God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 27
B. JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The incarnation of Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God taking upon Himself the demands and necessities of human nature and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He died on the cross for our sins, and He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.
Matthew 1:22, 23
John 1:1-5, 14
Romans 1:3, 4
C. THE HOLY SPIRIT
THE HOLY SPIRIT – the Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son. He was sent to this world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ and to indwell the hearts of every person who invites Jesus Christ into their life.
His primary purpose is to recreate the life of Jesus Christ in the hearts of Christians. He has been sent to empower us to live the Christian life and give us power for service that we can accomplish the will of God. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved in order to accomplish this purpose.
As Christians, we need to seek to live under His daily guidance.
2 Corinthians. 3:17
D. THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It is in itself, totally in every word, inspired of God. From Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, it is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is without error and is perfect in every area which it addresses including history, science, mathematics, and His divine instruction to man. Written by human authors under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit, it is the supreme source of truth to man and is to be our guidebook to daily living. It is the final authority of life for the Christian.
2 Timothy 3:16 2
Peter 1:20, 21
2 Timothy 1:13
1 Peter 1:25
Man was created by the special act of God in His own image and is the crowning work of His creation. In the beginning, man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator by the freedom of choice. As free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan, man disobeyed the command of God and fell from his original innocence. This attitude, which the Bible calls sin, separates people from God and causes many problems in life.
Isaiah 59:1, 2
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. Salvation by God’s grace without works of our own is necessary because of the sinfulness of man. Only by trusting Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.
When we turn from the self-ruled life as we repent of our sins and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith and therefore lasts for all of eternity.
Ephesians 2:8, 9
John 10:29, 30
2 Timothy 1:12
Christian baptism is the immersion of the believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as an act of obedience to Jesus Christ (see study on Baptism).
People were created to exist eternally. Each person will either exist eternally separated from God by sin in the place the Bible calls hell or eternally with God through forgiveness in salvation in a place the Bible refers to as heaven. Both heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence as the Bible teaches.
EVANGELISM—It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ of every church to endeavor to make disciples for all nations. The new birth of man’s spirit by God’s Holy Spirit means the birth of love for others. The evangelism and missionary efforts on the part of all rest upon the spiritual necessity of sharing the good news of the gospel with others. The people of the church need to seek constantly to win the lost to Christ by both a personal and a corporate effort.
Matthew 9:37, 38
